A richly coloured piece of wearable Irish art, created from an original painting by Irish artist Rita Oates and inspired by the possibilities that emerge when we move beyond a black-and-white way of seeing the world.
The Story Behind the Scarf
“Beyond Grey to Gold…”
Two solid shapes — one black, one white — represent a polarised world of fixed positions and opposing views.
When black and white begin to blend, they soften into shades of grey. We may still disagree, but there is space to listen, communicate and understand.
Beyond the greys, warmer colours begin to emerge. Yellow represents warmth, gold hope, while red and rust carry feelings of love and care.
The Beyond series grew from my belief that we can choose the values we bring into the world around us.
Beyond conflict and constraint lies warmth, hope and possibility.
That idea inspired my original Beyond Grey to Gold artwork — now transformed into this meaningful designer scarf.
