This piece was inspired by John Hume, a man of courage and integrity, for whom I have always had a deeply felt respect. John was a beacon of hope for this island during one of its most difficult and challenging times.

The colour blue signifies respect: both the respect he showed to everyone and the respect he earned throughout Ireland and beyond for his tireless efforts to broker peace. The overflowing vase is a symbol of the fullness of his contributions to the peace process.
